Servitization of manufacturing industry ranging from virtual production to trial production and small quantity production

On April 19, 2016, ETRI opened ‘smart factory-based open-type demonstration test bed for manufacturing services’ for assertive support for production of prototype, etc. of small & medium manufacturers and startups along with Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Institute for Information and Communications Technology Promotion (IITP).
It is a factory that manufactures small quantity of multiple range of products, which are idea products of companies, at a single location by breaking out of the existing framework of factories that manufactures only a single product Open-type FasS IoT platform in the format of linkage among customer – manufacturing – distribution for personalized and customized production manufactures differentiated products required by specific individuals (companies) at efficiency close to those of mass production.
Provision of personalize flexible production and manufacturing services is possible through customized product manufacturing by means of connected and collaborative operation of higher and lower ranked factories, and real time dynamic scheduling,etc.
of the lines for diversified customized product manufacturing including order unit procedure / production planning / automatic scheduling of heterogeneous hybrid manufacturing / real time equipment control, etc.

In addition, it enables exiting large-scale factory / global supply network system-oriented format to convert to small-scale flexible and agile productionby means of establishment of open-type manufacturing services in each region thereby achieving personalized production service demonstration, supply, proliferation and on-demand engineering collaboration.That is, it is accompanied by improvement of prompt productivity, and maximization of flexible production and resources utilization through transition to regional supply network system (provide customer accessibility).
